Creep: clean verse settings on the VOX MINI GO 3
Radiohead
The clean verse accompaniment. The distorted chorus needs a separate sound; one high-gain setting is not suitable for the whole song.
The model choice and values are an adaptation for this small modelling amp, not the original recording chain. The contrast and perceived loudness need an actual listening check on your guitar. Independent player testing is still pending.
Starting settings
Begin with the neck pickup, or the neck single coil on an HSS guitar. Use the same pickup while comparing the clean settings.
| Amp model | DELUXE CL |
|---|---|
| Gain | 2/10 |
| Tone | 5/10 |
| EFFECTS 1 | OFF |
| EFFECTS 2 | OFF |
The table uses the pick reference. In fingers mode the app proposes Tone one step higher (6 rather than 5); this is an editorial preference, not a measured correction. Your saved calibration may also change the displayed values.
Start with Volume low, then raise it to a comfortable level. Effects positions are labelled zones, not a global scale out of ten.
Listen, change one thing, compare
- Select DELUXE CL with both effects off. Play the same few chords softly and then with a firmer attack.
- If the quiet passage already distorts, lower Gain towards 1. Bring the listening level up using Volume only after the clean attack is clear.
- For a separate chorus experiment, change to BRIT 800 with moderate Gain, starting around 4, and rebalance Volume before playing loudly. This is an optional editorial alternative, not an automatic preset change.
A different passage needs a different decision
The verse and chorus need an intentional contrast. The MINI GO 3 does not have the MINI GO 50 user-program controls; this guide asks you to change the controls manually rather than promising a saved hardware patch.
The app uses your selected pickup profile. It stores saved sounds in this browser, not in the amplifier or a cloud account. Export a backup before changing browser or device.
